The Christmas Parade
Today, Sunday, we went to the Christmas parade in downtown Waxhaw, NC. This is me and my dad when we first got out of the car and we walking down the street.
We found a good place to stand to watch the parade...
And some of the people that walked by wanted to pet me. That was okay.
Well, the parade started and there was horses...
And a goat that thought he was a reindeer....
And best of all there was Santa. The Real one...I just knew it the minute I saw him.

My Secret Santa
Something wonderful happened at my house! First, a box came in the mail yesterday.
My mom said, "let's take pictures to show who ever sent it"! I barked 'okay'.
Mom helped me open the box.
I couldn't believe my eyes! There were toys in there and they were for me. Mom read the pretty card and it was from Nickey, Anastasia, Diamond, Aj and Dimintri! Mom said that they were our 'Secret Santas'. This is soooooo much fun.
There was a very cute penguin that made a funny noise.
and the cutest doggie I ever saw...
I just love them both.
There was also a very pretty card with a message in it. Thank you so much Nickey, Anastasia, Dimintri, AJ, Diamond, your momma and human sister. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
Astrid and mom
They featured me! ME! I'm soooo excited!
I can't believe it. My mom went to the Santa Cruz County Humane Society site last night just to see how they were doing. The Humane Society was where I lived before I came to live in my forever home with my mom and dad. Mom was clicking on all the links and when she clicked on stories, and she couldn't believe her eyes!
If you'd like to read it, just click here and then click on 'STORIES'.
The end.

Doggie Decathlon Make Up A Point Event
If you missed an event and would like to make up the point, this event is for you. It's also a really important skill to have at this holiday time! The event is called 'leave it' and all you need to do is leave a treat in front of you until your mom, dad or who ever is with you at the time says it is okay to have it, or gives you something else. If they give you something else, the name of this event is 'Zen Doggie'...you need to give up something to get something else.
Please put Imagine Peace wishes here.
I wish we get TONS of peaceful wishes and fill up our Imagine Peace wish tree!

Imagine Peace Wish Tree
As the Doggie Decathlon draws to a close with the 10th event, the Divas of MDS will be starting their 2008 Christmas project. It most defintely is NOT limited to the Divas, as we want everyone, Divas, Divos, actual card carrying members or not, to be part of our project. The name of our project is the Imagine Peace Wish Tree.
This is how it will work. We have a tree that my mom and I made from a branch that has lost it's leaves for the Winter season, so it is like a little tiny tree with no leaves. On it, we will be hanging little white tags with white strings. On these tags will be all of our wishes for each other...dogs and humans alike...for us here on MDS and in the whole world. All your wishes don't have to be serious, they can be cute and funny too. Let me give you a couple of examples. 1) I wish that no more soldiers get hurt in Iraq 2) I wish I (Astrid) had wings so I could go visit my bulldog cousins in Arizona! That's just an example of a serious wish and a funny, cute wish. We can wish things for our families, our dog friends or any thing we want, as long as it's peaceful. We'll have a blog on our page called Imagine Peace, and that's where we ask all our friends to put their wishes. You can send as many wishes as you want and this all starts today. My mom will write each of your wishes on a white tag and hang it on the tree. We are going to need lots and lots of wishes to fill up this tree so keep 'em coming!
On December 10th, my mom will change my background picture to a picture of our Imagine Peace tree with it's tags on it. We can keep on making wishes right through Christmas and my mom will continue writing them on the tags and hanging them on the tree. The tree will stay my background through January 10th and we'll take pictures of it every week and update it, hoping that by Christmas time we all will have made so many peaceful wishes that it will be full of white tags and will look like a beautiful tree covered with snow.
Here is our tree now...
and here are our tags...
Here is what we hope it eventually looks like:
so let's all start making wishes!
This was not an original idea of ours. Those of you old enough to remember the Beatles remember John Lennon's very artistic wife, Yoko Ono. She has been doing wish tree exhibits since 1981. If you'd like to know more about her effort and see pictures of some actual wish trees she has created, you can click here.
Doggie Decathlon 10th Event
Okay, everyone, it's the final event of the Doggie Decathlon. This should be an easy one. The official name is "takes a treat gently from human fingers." Here's my entry and demo.

Doggie Decathlon 9th Event
Everyone did really, really well in the events where we had to nose touch and the other one where we paw touched. The 9th event takes this trick just a little further. For the 9th event of the Doggie Decathlon, you will need to PUSH an object with either your nose or your paw, pushing it past that marked barrier. Now it doesn't need to be far that you move it, you just need to be careful that you don't actually pick it up to move it. Here, I'll demonstrate and these will be my entries, too. First, you can either use your paw to push it like I'm showing below...
OR push it with your nose, like I'm doing in the next picture. This is where I actually pushed the ball out of the barrier, the hoop.
Good luck and have fun with this one!

Doggie Decathlon 8th Event
For this event, the task goes by many names. Some simply call it head down. In my house, it's called 'who do you love'. All you need to do is rest your head on your mom or dad's lap or knee. If there is no to take the picture for you, you may rest your head on the couch, chair or other object. It you don't know this one already, have fun learning it! Here's my entry...
